Monte Real Bed & Breakfast
Welcome! Thank you for visiting our Monte Real Bed & Breakfast web site. We are located about 2 km from the business district of Atenas in a quiet, private setting. The International Airport is within a half-hour reach and sites of interest, including beaches, are about an hour away by car or bus. We offer guided tours to any of a variety of Costa Rica's natural wonders conducted by my wife (Costa Rican/Botanist) and/or myself (U.S./Biologist), or we can make arrangements to book you with a tour operator based on your preferences. Also available is a home stay option for those that wish to stay for 1 month, or more, and includes breakfast. If you are interested in doing volunteer work, we have an arrangement with a nearby orphanage and elementary school for such. We also offer Spanish lessons during weekdays tailored to your level of interest and time commitment. We have an extensive reference library on topics relative to Costa Rica covering plants and animals, maps, national parks, forest and biological reserves and other protected areas, and specialty tours.
Our guests have come from a variety of Countries, including Japan, Canada, the U.S., Ireland and England. Should you decide to stay with us, we look forward to having you!
Located next to our Bed and Breakfast is a new, fully furnished 2-bedroom
apartment with 2 baths. The apartment is available for either short- or
long-term rental. The first floor includes a laundry room, bathroom/shower
facility, kitchen, entertainment area and guest bedroom with a bunk bed.
The second floor contains the master bedroom, bath/shower facility
and exit to the balcony. A minimum 2-week stay is required. Pets are allowed,
but a $50 deposit is required to cover any damage or cleaning expenses resulting
from having pets. The deposit is refundable should none of the foregoing
problems occur. Smoking is not permitted within the apartment.
